Week 2: Have just had a browse at Linkedin- this site appealed to me as like the idea of communicating about career/work/conservation interests. Did not want to sign up and spend time joining etc etc-so did not find it possible to search for eg.

under a subject/research fieal-rather than by the actual name of the person? Found this a bit frustrating-from an observer's point of view-but probably very possible once you have joined up. Sure that this site could be very useful for librarians-to link in, network and excahnge ideas. layout appered very clear, linear and simple to use and take in.

My Space - can see how this is popular -especially with the younger set- looked very "glossy" and I liked the scope of the coverage-events, movies, bands, fashion etc-thought very attractively presented and sexy-but wasn't personally grabbed by it! I liked the "Forums" and the scope of interests .- Once again-yes-would be great for the library to post events/products etc on it?

Facebook- really liked the comment by Sam Gosling re the "Connecting with...series-see attached http://www.facebook.com/facebook?ref=pf as I don't personally want to join up Facebook-from what I could see from browsing-liked the proffesionalism this may allow/following up on interests etc and helping out/volunteering worldwide etc.
I liked the very clear, easy to take in overview given on Facebook - did look kind of attractive to me-even though there are aspects about sharing on it that I don't particularly like -myself-but I can understand others liking it.e g. if I was overseas and wanted to keep in touch with family and friends etc.

Lucy the Cat

Creating this blog! I am momentarily disappointed that I am probably not meant to write a whole lot about my darling cat -guess the name, Lucy! However, just to contain myself and ultimately) my poor workmates(and no doubt, Lucy herself) I will try and include an image of her - at the very least as seen left!

Thoughts so far...easy to set up gmail account-and could be useful, also instructions have been very helpful. Writing in this blog stirs up in my memory bank a whole lot of potentially funny stories about Lucy - maybe a picturebook one day....yeah right! When reading the intro I was impressed when skimmimg Flicker - to see all the amazing images come up on a simple search on "Madagscar" - somewhere I would just love to visit- as I am passionate about unusual animals- amongst other things, including picturebooks!
